Obituary

Mrs. Virginia E. (Morse) Edwards, age 99, a resident of Tyngsborough, formerly of Lowell, died Friday, May 23, 2025. She was the wife of the late Harold P. Edwards, to whom she was married 54 years prior to his passing in 2001.

Born in Lowell on October 25th, 1925, she was the youngest daughter of the late Walter E. and Helen I. (Barnes) Morse. She received her early education in the Lowell public schools, graduating from Lowell High School in 1945.

She had worked as a salesclerk at her father’s business, Morse & Beal’s Flower Shop, formerly in Lowell, and in the Children’s Department at A.G. Pollard Company, after which she became a full-time employee at the flower shop. Throughout the ’50’s and early ’60’s, Mrs. Edwards focused on raising her family, until 1964, when she and her husband purchased “Riverview Farm” in Tyngsborough, which they owned and operated until 1997.

She belonged to Christ Church United of Lowell, and formerly was a member of the First Congregational Church. She served as a Deaconess at Christ Church United from 1987-1997 and was a member of Tau Phi Omega. Mrs. Edwards also belonged to Puritan Chapter #54, Order of the Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls and the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion of Tyngsborough, where she was honored in 2024 as its oldest living member. She was also active in her community, being a member of the Tyngsborough Senior Center and cooking at the Tyngsborough Sportsman’s Club. Mrs. Edwards had bowled with the Stop & Shop League on Monday nights for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid Red Sox fan.

She is survived by four daughters, Carol Edwards of Niantic, CT, Joan Bell of Tyngsborough, MA, Linda Edwards and her partner Tootsie Kapala of Lowell, MA, and Karen Martin of Nashua, NH; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Salesky of Seattle, WA, Nicholas Rabchenuk of Tyngsborough, MA, Mishelle Martin of Los Angeles, CA, and Travis Martin of Columbus, OH, and many nieces and nephews. Dear Cousins,
We are so sorry for the loss of your mother,Aunt Ginnie. We’re also apologetic that circumstances prevented us from attending the services. However, know that you are in our prayers.
Also know that our being able to view the Keepsake Page documented a life well lived with your Dad and you. Those pictures also brought fond memories to me of my Aunt, Uncle and you, my cousins.
    Fondly, Bob & Sally
