Obituary

Top Thi Lam, 70, of Lowell, MA, passed away peacefully on the night of Sunday, March 27th, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by her beloved children.

Top was born and raised in Bac Lieu, Vietnam before becoming a refugee in America in the spring of 1989. Top and her husband, Thuan Lam, and their five children, Khetemcnee Lam, Ninh Lam, Nich Lam, Vich Lam, and Sokha Lam overcame many obstacles during the Vietnam War in order to achieve greater opportunities in the land of the free. The journey consisted of traveling from Vietnam to Cambodia (1981-1983), to Dang-Rek refugee camp on Thai-Cambodia border (1984), Site Two camp (1986), then a camp in the Philippines for six months (1989), and finally arrived in the United States in the spring of 1989.

In America, she worked hard to provide for her family and became a grandmother of 14 as of March of 2022: Samantha Lam, Tyler Vannabouthong, Kenneth Lam, Aria Lam, Angelina Lam, Henry Lam, Kerry Lam, Arabella Lam, Sanjali Lam, Annalee Lam, Adrian Lam, Averie Lam, Bellya Lam, and Logan Nuon.

In June of 2020, Top was diagnosed with cancer and was treated at Lowell General and Brigham and Women’s in Boston. She was highly praised for her strength and perseverance through the many complications and challenges related to the treatment. She was gifted two additional years with her family despite the difficulties she went through.

There are numerous characteristics to describe her, but the most important ones include courageous, kind, loving, diligent, and compassionate. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, cleaning, and watching dramas. Additionally, Top relished the company of her children and grandchildren whenever they visited. Top Lam will always be loved and remembered by the people around her.

Family are invited to a period of visitation at the Morse-Bayliss Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Blvd., Lowell, on Sunday beginning at 1:30 p.m., followed by procession to Trairatanaram Temple, 21 Quigley Ave, North Chelmsford, MA 01863.
