Obituary

Shana Mutembei, 29, of Lowell, MA died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Lowell General Hospital.

Born in Meru, Kenya, she was the daughter of Franklin Mutembei and Dorothy (Kawira) Mutembei both of Kenya.

Shana moved to the United States as a child. She attended Butler Academy and graduated from Greater Lowell Technical High School, Lowell, with the class of 2012.  She is a graduate of Salem State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing with the class of 2017.

She was employed by a nursing agency which allowed her to care for people at many different nursing homes.

Shana was a happy soul who loved to travel.  Her favorite place to visit was Florida.  She also enjoyed food and cooking, as well as nature, and doing many different nature related activities.

Besides her parents Shana is survived by her brother Eugene Mutembei of Methuen, and her sisters Vera Githinji of Leominster and Fridah Kiarie of Lowell.

  1. I can’t believe Shana is gone, it’s so hard to accept this. She was such a wonderful soul, always spreading joy wherever she went. Her smile could light up a room and she had this amazing way of making everyone feel special. I remember the times we spent talking about her adventures, especially her trips to Florida, and how she loved to cook and enjoy nature. She was more than a friend; she was a sister to me. My deepest condolences to her family. I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through. Shana, you will always be in our hearts, and your spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
