Obituary

Robert M. Richards, a proud US Army Veteran sadly passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Care Dimension in Lincoln, MA, following a courageous battle with illness. He was 63 years old.
Born in Lowell on November 29, 1960, Robert was the beloved son of Gloria Brady Anderson. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Theresa MacKenzie Richards
Robert is survived by his beloved son, Robert P. Richards of Lowell, daughters Heather T. Richards and  Tarnia MacKenzie of Lowell and
He was predeceased by his son Sean MacKenzie.
Together Robert and his late wife Theresa also lost two sons shortly after birth. Brian and Matthew Richards.
As a young teen Robert was a member of the Highland Youth Organization and became active in improving his community. Robert attended Keith Academy and was called Wolfie by some of his closest friends.
After serving time in the Army where he was stationed in Germany, Robert dedicated over 30 years of his life to serving the community as a taxi driver and dispatcher, retiring proudly from Yellow Cab of Lowell where he got the nickname “The Rocket,” He was inspired by his late Uncle, Robert Anderson who was also in the taxi business.
Besides being known as “The Rocket” he was also known as “Grandpa” to many of his childrens friends and their kids who he loved as his own.
During his retirement, Robert found joy in listening to music and taking drives in “Hank the Tank” with his son Bobby, Ripping butts while talking politics with his daughter Heather and sister Val, spending time with his grandkids, or spending his days at Active Day of Lowell engaging in friendly pool matches with his good friend Jose Baez and others.
He also leaves behind brothers Randy Richards of Lowell his sister, Valerie Richards Harvey of NH, brother in law James Harvey of NH., his brother Scott Brady and his wife Pat of Dracut and Joe Brady of Derry.
He also leaves behind half siblings Mark, Ronnie, Desiree, Dixie, Vynessa, Ellyott and Aarryn and his great friends Roger and Cheryl Thompson of Lowell
His legacy continues through his four grandchildren: Tony MacKenzie, Breanna Ortiz, Avion Richards, and Joshua Burne, as well as great-grandchildren Anthony MacKenzie, Nadia MacKenzie, Carter Chan, and Ariya Chan. His grand kids were the joy of his life.
Robert also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who all held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his human connections, Robert shared his home with his late wife’s cat, Tabitha, providing comfort and companionship in the later years of his life.
Robert will be remembered by his family for his great sense of humor, his patriotism, and his sincere enjoyment in the simple things of life.
