Richard “Rich” Stephen Leary, 64, of Lowell, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA.

Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Francis and Muriel (Brady) Leary. Rich spent his early years in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1976. After high school he went on to UMass Lowell where he earned his bachelors and master’s degrees in software engineering. He was working at Oracle as a software engineer for several years.

Rich was a member of the Mountain View Yacht Club of Gilford, NH where he enjoyed spending time on Lake Winnipesaukee on his boat. Rich also enjoyed watching Patriots games and the occasional cigar. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on the many family vacations and on Christmas Eve where everyone gathered at his home.

Rich is survived by his three daughters; Trisha Leary of Townsend, MA, Briana LaFleur and her husband Nicolas of Fitchburg, MA, and Kathleen Genetti and her husband Adam of Nashua, NH, his brother John Leary of Merrimack, NH, his two sisters and their spouses; Ann and Paul Perry of Derry, NH, and Donna and Jeffrey Ozella of Pelham, NH, and his two granddaughters; Olivia and Cassidy Lapointe.

    We are heartbroken to have just learned of Richard’s passing. We are all in shock and sad we are late with our condolences. He had such a great sense of humor and always had us laughing.
