Philip James Meade, of Lowell, died peacefully April 29, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital, after a brave battle with liver and kidney disease, aged 63 years. He was the beloved husband of Gayla Marie (Wagner) Meade, with whom he had celebrated 39 years of marriage.

Born in Waltham on December 19, 1958, he was the son of the late David G. Meade and Toni P. Andersen, and stepson of Elizabeth Meade and Len Andersen.

He was a graduate of Arlington High School with the Class of 1976. He furthered his education first at the College of Saint of Joseph in Rutland, VT, where he met Gayla in 1979. He then attended UMASS Boston, where he earned a B.A. Degree in 1983.

Philip enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1985, and was stationed at Fort Fisher Air Force Station and Kure Beach, North Carolina 701 Squadron, and Eglin Air Force Base at Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Prior to his Honorable Discharge in 1990, he was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, and the Training Ribbon.

Mr. Meade held various jobs in the printing industry for over three decades.

While he loved to play poker, pickle ball, and volleyball, he especially enjoyed spending summers by the lake at CWV with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Erin Nicole Meade and her partner Chris Mirabello of Norwich, CT, and a son, Brian Andrew Meade and his partner Lisa Warren of Brooklyn, NY. He also leaves three brothers, David and his wife Nancy of Burlington, MA; Edward of Manchester, NH, and, Jeremy and his wife Danielle of Wayland, MA, a sister, Susan Errington-Wood of Perth, Australia, a stepsister, Neti Andersen Guzman of West Hartford, CT, a cousin, Martha Meade of Los Angeles, CA, and many nieces and nephews. Philip will also be missed by Tiny, his beloved cat, who stayed by his side at all times. He was the grandson of the late George and Mary Meade.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
