Obituary

Pearl Styman, 99, of Chelmsford, MA, entered into rest comfortably after a brief illness on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at High Point Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Y. Styman.

Born in Lowell, MA, Pearl was the daughter of the late Hyman Shafman and Marion (Schneiderman) Shafman. A proud member of the Lowell High School Class of 1943, she went on to graduate from the Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing. Pearl began her long and devoted nursing career at Beth Israel Hospital and later joined the maternity ward at Lowell General Hospital after moving to Lowell in 1960. She also taught natural childbirth classes and was known for her compassionate care and deep commitment to her patients.

Pearl continued serving the community as a school nurse in the Lowell Public School system, retiring in 2016. She also worked at Willow Manor Nursing Home as a wound care nurse.

Deeply rooted in her faith and culture, Pearl was a devoted member of both Temple Beth El and Montefiore Synagogue. She was active in the Temple Beth El Sisterhood, a life member of Hadassah, and a founding member of the Yiddish Club.

Pearl lived a full and vibrant life. She loved traveling and spending time at the beach, especially on Cape Cod. She cherished visits to her daughters’ homes and had a passion for big band music, theater, cultural arts, Jeopardy, and playing the piano.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters: Susan Tymon and her husband Stephen of Tyngsboro, MA; Sharon Lussier and her husband Robert of Merrimack, NH; and Debbi Strauss and her life partner Bruce Zebrowski of Palmer, MA.

Pearl was predeceased by her siblings: Milton Shafman, Morris Shafman, Lillian Brand, and Millie Langerman.

She leaves behind eight grandchildren who brought her great joy: Joseph Bernstein and his wife Elisha of Ayer, MA; Shayla Bernstein also of Ayer, MA; Lauren Fennelly and her husband Kevin of Woburn, MA; Daniel Tymon of Richmond Hill, GA; Adam Strauss and his wife Lexie of Pasadena, CA; Marielle Tymon and her partner Erin of Hudson, MA; Riva Mains and her husband Jacob of Staunton, VA; and Roxanne Tymon Waltham, MA, Eleven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pearl’s legacy of compassion, warmth, and strength lives on through her family and the many lives she touched throughout her life and nursing career.

Funeral Monday, July 7, 2025, from 10am at MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 PRINCETON BLVD., LOWELL, MA. Burial in Montefiore Synagogue, Pelham, NH. Shiva Tuesday and Wednesday from 12noon until 7pm at the home of Sharon Lussier 28 Pearson Rd. Merrimack NH 03054.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Pearl’s name to Shawsheen Valley Hadassah, 31 Liljegren Way, Bedford, MA 01730 or the High Point Hospice House, 360 North Ave, Haverhill, MA 01830.
