Libbie M. Glazer,(born December 9, 1931) a beloved mother, grandmother, and community leader, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, at the age of 92. A lifelong resident of Lowell MA, for the past ten years, she called Edgewood Community of North Andover, MA, her home.
Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, she was the daughter of the late William and Claire (Kamenske) Fleet. After graduating Lawrence High School, Libbie went on to receive a degree from Lasell University.
Libbie was predeceased by her devoted husband, A. Melvin “Mel” Glazer to whom she was married for 49 beautiful years.
Together, they were fixtures in the Lowell community, while operating their cherished business, the Parrot Hat Shop. Libbie enriched her community through her dedication to service. Libbie served on the Board of Directors of the Lowell YWCA for several years. She was an active member of the Lowell Chapter League of Women Voters. Libbie was a 2nd generation lifetime member in a four generation family of lifetime Hadassah members. She was president of the Lowell chapter and later served as a New England region vice-president. Libbie & Mel were long time members of Temple Beth El in Lowell.
Libbie and Mel traveled extensively throughout the world. She was an avid collector of turtle figurines and always brought one home from each trip. Libbie & Mel were avid members of the Merrimack Repertory Theatre. Libbie loved the beach and enjoyed many summers in both Maine & New Hampshire.
Libbie is survived by her children, Hugh J. Glazer & his wife Linda of Marblehead, MA and Ruth R. White & her husband Mark of Mashpee, MA. Libbie was a proud grandmother to Alexandra (Glazer) Brasco & her husband James of Weston and Gregory W. White of Nashua. She is also survived by nephews, Samuel Fleet, Anthony Rich, Peter Rich and their families.
She was predeceased by her late brother, Gerald M. Fleet and his wife Janet.
Libbie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Hadassah.
Funeral Notice
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 1:00 p.m. at Temple Beth EL Cemetery, Lowell/Chelmsford, MA.

I will miss and treasure my life long friend, Libby, with whom we spent many years together with our husbands; Will and Mel, enjoying theatre and the shore and just being together.
