John Bernard Gordon, of Dracut, died December 3, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital, his family at his side, aged 86 years. He was the beloved husband of Alice M. (Clement) Gordon, with whom he had celebrated 66 years of marriage on October 4th.

John was born in Lawrence on July 16, 1936, a son of the late William C. and Lillian B. (Rogers) Gordon. He received his early education in the Lowell school system and was a proud graduate of the Lowell Trade School.

John enlisted in the United States Navy on March 24, 1955 and served aboard the USS Raymond, a John C. Butler-class destroyer escort. He was honorably discharged on March 23, 1959.

For many years, he worked for General Electric as a machinist, and often took on more jobs to provide for his family. John was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 87 in the Highlands.

A selfless man with a tireless work ethic, John was also an excellent cook and enjoyed camping. John loved his family with all his heart and will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was also a loving foster father for 12 years.

Besides his wife Alice, he is survived by five children, John B. Gordon Jr. and his wife Donna of Westford, William C. Gordon and his partner Elizabete Deandrade of Derry, NH, Glenn Gordon and his partner Sarah Crittenden of Martha’s Vineyard, and Cynthia Graham and Kim Emond and her husband Armand, all of Tyngsboro. He was the loving Papa of eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
