In loving memory of Jacqueline “Jackie” (Doyle) Cohen who passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, at the age of 94. Jackie was born in Lowell, MA on November 4, 1931, to John and Greta (Buckley) Doyle, and was the wife of the late Sumner “Sonny” Cohen.
Jackie had a deep passion for dance from an early age, dancing almost as soon as she could walk. A long-time resident of Lowell, she started teaching dance and opened her own studio, the Jacqueline Doyle School of Dance, in Lowell, which she ran for many years during the 1950s to the early 1970s. She had a distinctive, unforgettable style, as evidenced by her fashionable sunglasses, make-up, outfits of the day and ever-changing hairstyles. She was a lover of the arts, music, animals, and later in life, the evening political talk shows. She was a spiritual person, believed in God and the power of prayer. Spending time in the sunshine near the ocean brought her true happiness. She had a special affinity for the southern coast of Maine where she spent countless summers with family and friends throughout her life. Jackie was also known for her outgoing friendly nature, often striking up conversations with strangers and making new friends along the way.
From 1976 to 1993, Jackie was a resident of San Antonio, TX before relocating back to Massachusetts. In her later years, she moved closer to her son and grandchildren, who she loved very much, and who affectionately referred to her as “Nannie.” She spent as much time with them as possible, including attending her granddaughter’s dance recitals.
Jackie’s family and friends will remember her generosity and strong spirit. Her family was her greatest joy, and she will be deeply missed. Jackie is survived by her son, Casey Cohen, her grandchildren, Caroline Cohen and Samuel Cohen, along with several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held in June 2026 at the Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, MA.
“May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
