Obituary

Iris O. Carr, 95, of Lowell, MA passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Northwood Healthcare Center.

She was married to the late Francis X. Carr whom passed away on May 13, 2013. Born in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (O’Brien) Ogden.

Iris graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1946. During her time at Lowell High School, she was a member of the school’s Girl Officers where she helped organize various school activities. Iris retired from the Daley School of Lowell Public School System after 28 years as the school’s administrative assistant. She was a faithful and active communicant of St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, Lowell, MA. At the church she served with the parish’s Ladies Sodality group.

Iris was a very talented seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting different things that she often gifted to her friends and family. Her family also remembers her as a fantastic baker. During the summer months she would enjoy spending family vacations at Hampton Beach, NH and later at Wells Beach, ME.  Iris always remained extremely active and busy into her later years and often helped out with babysitting some of her eleven grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons and their spouses; Brian and Paula Carr of Lowell, MA, Kevin Carr and Janet Henderson of Wenham, MA, Michael and Karen Carr of Lowell, MA, her daughter Nancy Fowler of Lowell, MA, her eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her several nieces and nephews. She was the sister to the late Robert Ogden, Richard Ogden, Frank Ogden, and Shirley Halligan. She was the mother-in-law to the late Robert J. Fowler.

Funeral Friday, November 17, 2023 9:00 a.m. at Morse-Bayliss Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, Lowell, MA.     Sorry to hear about Iris. Always remember her at Wells Beach making us all laugh. Peggy and her went out to lunch a couple of times and she always enjoyed her company. Rest in peace
