Hristo “Chris” Popov, 81, died early Friday July 14, 2023 at High Pointe Hospice House after a period of declining health with his family by his side.
He was married to Lorraine (Champoux) Popov with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage with.
Hristo was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria to the late Hristo Ivan Popov and Kety Popova.
In 1968 Hristo, followed by his mother and brother escaped communist Bulgaria and immigrated to the United States.
He was a member of Club Passe-temps where he loved to spend time with friends playing cards. An avid traveler, Hristo lived in Italy and Yugoslavia for some time prior to his arrival in the United States, as well as traveling to Canada and many US states. Spending time with his family and friends was one of Hristo’s favorite things to do.
Besides his wife Lorraine, he is survived by his son Christopher Popov of Lowell, MA, His brother George and his wife Cheryl Popov of Tyngsboro, MA; four sister-in-law’s Theresa, Carol and her husband Jimmy, Pauline and her husband Juan, and Janet and her husband Junior, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother-in-law of the late Rick and Kenny.
