Obituary

Gary Michael Stack, 63, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Born and raised in Lowell, Gary was the son of Barbara (O’Neill) Stack of Tewksbury and the late Gareth T. Stack. He was a proud graduate of Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua, New Hampshire, Class of 1980. Throughout his life, Gary worked in a variety of sales positions, where his easygoing nature and ability to connect with others served him well.

Gary had a deep love for music and was an avid sports fan, he especially loved cheering on the New England Patriots. Some of his happiest times were spent camping during the summers in Sanford, Maine at Yellowstone Campground, a place that held fond memories. Gary also had a lifelong appreciation for cars, enjoying everything from their design to the stories behind them.

Known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, Gary had a way of making people laugh when they least expected it. His humor, often subtle but always perfectly timed, brought light to everyday moments and was one of the many ways he showed his love for those around him.

In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his son, Grady Stack, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Carfagno, of Lowell, MA; his daughters, Arianna McCarthy and her husband, Justin McCarthy III, of Lowell, MA, and Erin Stack and her partner Christopher Ross of Jacksonville, Florida. He was a proud grandfather to Connor and Maeve McCarthy. Gary is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins; all of whom held a special place in his life.

I am saddened by this terrible tragedy. Gary and Dennis Mccaffety were my friends from 1st grade on! Gary was always a true friend! Loyal and supportive and always willing to give a ride or lend a hand. I talked to him in November and wish I made plans to get together! I will keep Gary and his family in my prayers I have great memories of our childhood and adult years. Gary might be gone but will always be here thru memories. God Bless you all

We were very upset at hearing about the death of Gary. It brought back some similar memories that after 25 years are still very raw regarding the loss of our son at such an early age. Our condolences to all that are touched by this tragedy. RIP Gary
