Loving Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend

Brian R. Finneral, a longtime resident of the Highlands neighborhood of Lowell, died peacefully on March 19, 2022, in Lowell, after a lengthy illness. He was 63.

Born in Tewksbury on July 29, 1958, he was the beloved son of Alice A. (Nichols) (Finneral) Gaffney of Lowell and the late Francis P. Finneral, and the stepson of the late Robert F. Gaffney.

Brian was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1976. He was a talented and skilled machinist with Bruker Instruments in Billerica for almost 40 years.

A huge fan of the Boston Bruins, Patriots, and Red Sox, Brian enjoyed sharing his love of sports with friends. Playing golf and fishing were two of his most favorite passions in life.

He will be greatly missed by his mom, Alice, his sister, Maureen Kenyon and her husband Arthur, and his two nephews, Thomas and David.

He also leaves many good friends, including, Scott Sullivan, Jack O’Neil, Terrance Guthrie, Chris Natsias, Scott Walker, Dan Gavel, Mike Lorenzo, Walter O’Neil, Ted and Bobby Mellon, Mike Carr, Rick Neveux, Darren and Charlie Coyle, Laurel DeNault, and Tommy and Mike Mayrand. He will be especially missed by his dear friend Mal Allard.

Mr. Finneral’s Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Stevens Street, Lowell, on Tuesday at 10 AM. Please meet at Church. Interment in Edson Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 (www.alz.org).
