Obituary

Sheila M. Lessard, 94, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Saturday, August 3, 2024 at D’Youville Manor of Lowell.

She was wife of the late Robert L. Lessard who passed away in 1967.

Born in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late William J. Clement and the late Elsie M. (Landry) Clement.

Sheila was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1949.

Before her retirement, she worked for over twenty years as a Group Leader for Raytheon in Andover. Prior to that, she worked at Educator Biscuit (Crax) for twenty years.

Sheila was one of the original residents of Bruyere Gardens at D’Youville Life & Wellness Community in Lowell for 17 years. She made many good friends there, playing cards and sitting outside.

Sheila shared a special bond with her sisters. They enjoyed their time together celebrating birthdays and daily calls to one another. After retirement Sheila enjoyed trips to Florida and Las Vegas, along with local bus trips with friends to the beach and casinos. She collected souvenir spoons from all over the world.

Sheila was an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and loved to crochet. She was called “The Mitten Lady” crocheting mittens and hats for many local school children.

Most importantly Sheila loved spending time with her family.

She was proud of and adored her son Jim and daughter-in-law Debbie. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her so much joy. She looked forward to every family event, birthday and holidays. Sheila started the tradition of playing Left, Right Center every Christmas Eve which she almost always won.

In her final years Sheila was happiest when she was around her great grandchildren. She will be remembered as a kind and generous person, the love she had for her family ran deep. Sheila put everyone first and ensuring that all were happy and healthy was most important to her.

She leaves her son James R. and his wife Deborah A. (Callery) Lessard.  Three grandchildren Lindsay and her husband Anthony Marino of Chelmsford, Jonathan Lessard of Lowell, Chelsea Lessard and her companion Sean Sullivan of Lowell, two great grandchildren Addison and Brayden Marino of Chelmsford, two sisters Patricia and her husband John Connors of Tyngsboro, Pamela and her husband Lenord Whitney of Windham, NH.  She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law Ann Clement of Dracut, and Rita Lussier of Lowell.  Sheila is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
