Mrs. Eleanor Shirley (Bernstein) Rosen, 98, of Del Ray Beach, Florida, entered into eternal rest Saturday July 27, 2024 at The Jewish Healthcare Center after a period of declining health.
She was the wife of Norman M. Rosen, whom she married September 5th, 1949.
Born in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the Harry and Esther (Portnoy) Bernstein.
She graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1944. She furthered her education at Lowell Commercial College.
Eleanor, with her husband Norman, owned and operated Norman’s Men’s Shop, formerly in Lowell, from 1954 until their retirement in 1990. She worked in the store’s management, as well as its bookkeeper.
Following their retirement, they established their first home in Del Ray Beach, Florida.
For many years Mrs. Rosen was a member of Temple Beth El in Lowell, its Hadassah and Sisterhood, as well as the Sisterhood of Montefiore Synagogue. In retirement years in Florida, she enjoyed reading, golfing and various forms of charity work.
Eleanor is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Rosen of Scarboro, Maine and Debra and Charles Budd of Ashland, MA, a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Hope Rosen of Andover, MA; two granddaughters, Elyssa N. Budd of Los Angeles, CA and New York; and Lindsay D. Rosen of Arlington, VA; a grandson, Jared M. Rosen and his fiancé Madison Bader of Somerville, MA.
