Obituary

Theodore Arthur Mellen, Sr, 92, of Dracut, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and devoted family on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Lowell General Hospital.

He was married to the late Priscilla R. (Roberts) Mellen. Who died March 7, 2011.

Born in Lowell, MA he was the beloved son of Theodore and Thelma (Urquhart) Mellen.  He attended Lowell Public Schools.

Theodore proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He retired from Raytheon of Bedford, MA, and previously worked at Currier Printing in Lowell.

Theodore was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lowell, MA.  He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and was an avid Red Sox Fan.

He is survived by his three sons, Theodore Mellen, Jr. of Dracut, MA, James and his wife, Peggy Mellen of Londonderry, NH and William and his wife, Lisa Mellen of Nashua, NH, his five grandchildren, Robert, Kerry, Karla, Kayla and William Mellen, Jr., two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Cynthia Witts, Barbara Mellen, Myrtle Flannery, Shirley Hurley and Nancy Voutirista.

 

FUNERAL NOTICE

 

Theodore’s visitation will be Fri., Oct. 31, 2025 from 9 to 10am followed by a Funeral Service at 10am at the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 PRINCETON BLVD., LOWELL, MA.  Burial in Westlawn II Cemetery, Lowell.  ARRANGEMENTS BY MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME 978-458-6841.     I consider myself blessed to have the honor of being his niece. I am also grateful to have been able to visit with him in recent weeks when I was up north. Now the the Red Sox have a heavenly voice to cheer them on! Like I told my uncle, he added to my happy memories of childhood and I will never forget him. Love to my cousins and their families.
