Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister

Judith “Judy” R. (Chabot) Monahan, 85, passed away after a long illness on Monday, March 13, 2023, in her home in North Hampton, NH. It was a comfort to have her home full of family during her last days. She was born and raised in Lowell, MA, the daughter of the late Oliver and Margaret (Ward) Chabot.

Judy earned her RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lowell, and soon after earned her BSN at Boston College. She worked as an operating nurse at many of the premier hospitals in Boston and St. Joseph’s in Lowell up until her marriage to Dr. John J. Monahan. Judy and John raised a family in Erie, PA, and Worcester, MA.

She leaves her children, Kathleen Mary Monahan, Ann Jane Monahan, Susan Ouellette and her husband Paul, John Monahan, Michael Monahan and his wife Sonia, and Robert Monahan. She also leaves her brother, B. Gerald Chabot, and sister, Marrianne (Chabot) Ludvino, and eight grandchildren: Oliver Anderson and his wife Brittany, Jack Ouellette, Josie Ouellette, Meghan Monahan, Thomas Monahan, John Monahan, Joseph Monahan, and Benjamin Monahan, and three great-grandchildren: Brady Anderson, Bryce Anderson, and Brenna Anderson. Judy also leaves dozens of beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her son, Brien C. Monahan, and a sister, Kathleen J. McWha.

Family and friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, Lowell, MA, on Sunday, March 19 from 3 to 6 PM. Her funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell, on Monday, March 20 at 10 AM. Burial will be private. Judy supported many charities over the years and we know she would be pleased if you made a donation in her memory to a charity of your choice.
