Obituary

Sandra G. Bachta, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Born on March 17, 1943, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late John Aziz and Ida (Janco) Aziz.

Sandra was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She devoted many years of service to the Lowell Public Schools, where she eventually retired as an aide in the school library.

Sandra shared her life with her devoted partner, William “Bill” Otis. Together they enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing. She also loved shopping, especially finding a great bargain, and above all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

In addition to her life partner, Bill, she is survived by her sons John Bachta of Falls Church, VA, and Mark Bachta and his wife Allyson of Wakefield, MA; brother, Roger Aziz and his wife, Shirley, of Lawrence;  and her three cherished grandchildren, Kyle Curtis of Troy, NH, Zachary Bachta of Wilmington, MA, and Kaitlyn Bachta of Allston.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon at Morse-Bayliss Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, Lowell. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell.

    Sandy was a wonderful person. I enjoyed working with her at the Wang School in Lowell for many years. I remember her talking about her grandchildren all the time and how proud she was of them. She liked to talk about her many travels and dancing with Bill. I will miss her dearly.
