Melissa Ann Valcourt-Maher, 59, of North Billerica, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 20, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Dennis Maher.
She was born in Lowell on December 15, 1966, and was the daughter of Ronald Valcourt and the late Joanne (Faias) Valcourt. Melissa attended Lowell High School. She continued her education and earned an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies.
Melissa worked at DCU in Chelmsford.
Besides her husband and father, she is survived by her son Joshua Maher age 21 of N. Billerica and a daughter Aliza Maher age 20 of N. Billerica, a brother Bryan and Ann Valcourt of Nashua NH and had several nieces and nephews. She also was the sister of the late Daryl Valcourt.
Melissa enjoyed cross Stitch and crocheting she was an avid reader and loved her Cats, Socks and Boots.

I will miss your quirky saying’s and your hilarious stories about your cats that were always getting into some trouble. You were such a force. I had the pleasure of working with Melissa for three years, and she was always so kind and caring toward me. I’ll especially remember the little things, like when I had a bad migraine and she would massage my neck to help ease the pain. That kindness meant so much to me.

Melissa and I have been friends for more than 45 years, no amount of time distance space would change the level of friendship that we have. I will miss you my friend deeply. Such a kind, beautiful soul. The kind of person you could pick up where you left off no matter how much time had passed. always a great listener and never to judge. We hadn’t spoken for a few years and I am so grateful that she picked up the phone recently to call me. That was a gift.

I had the pleasure of working with Melissa for the last 5 years. She was always helpful and we collaborated so well together at every opportunity. She lent her expertise generously and was a huge asset to her department. She will be so missed.

Melissa, I don’t think we ever met face to face, but for 8 years we chatted on phone routinely. It got to the point where you would answer the phone with ” what do you want now?”. I was one of the lucky few who got your direct extension, just because you knew I always had something “good”. Whenever we wanted to share a good laugh, you were just an email away. It was a pleasure knowing you, working with you, and sharing all the laughter. Rest easy.
