Your Funeral

Meeting With the Funeral Home

You will need to meet with the funeral director within 24 hours of a loved one's death to begin making final arrangements. This will be a difficult time for you and your loved ones. We will be there to guide you and help make this difficult time a little bit easier.

Who Will Go With You?

Think about who you want to have by your side during the initial meeting at the funeral home.  Call them as soon as possible so they can arrange to be with you.

Who Else is Involved in the Arrangements?

Does the deceased have children, family members or close friends who would like to be a part of planning the funeral? Do you know how your loved one felt about funerals or what their final wishes were?  The funeral home will work with you to help in celebrating a life lived.

Do you have the information and items needed?

To better prepare yourself for the meeting at the funeral home, it will be helpful to gather certain documents. Below is a list of information needed when a death has occurred:

  • Social Security Number
  • Life Insurance Policies
  • Beneficiary Designations
  • For Veteran's - his or her DD 214 (Discharge Papers)
  • Cemetery Deed
  • For the obituary - a picture suitable for the newspaper
  • Clothing
