Obituary for Ruth "Honey" S. Brady (Espinola)

Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother

Ruth "Honey" S. (Espinola) Brady, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died peacefully on February 7, 2019, in Lowell, aged 84 years. She was the beloved wife of the late James J. Brady Sr., with whom she had celebrated 45 years of marriage before his passing.

Born in Lowell, December 21, 1934, a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Josephine (Picanso) Espinola. She received her early education in the Lowell school system and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1952.

Ruth and James married on July 3, 1955, and settled in the Highlands to raise their family.

Once her children were all in school, she went to work at the former Mammoth Mart as a jewelry clerk. Later, she was employed by the former Purity Supreme, where over the years she progressed to Accounts Payable Manager, retiring in 1980.

In their later years, Ruth and Jim enjoyed being snowbirds, spending winters at their villa in Kissimmee, Florida. They loved to host their grandchildren during February school vacations, taking them to all the theme parks and attractions.

Honey loved to share special occasions and holidays with her family - the more the merrier! Known for her delicious boiled dinner and signature 'orange potatoes', she delighted in hosting Sunday meals. She also enjoyed taking summer vacations at Salisbury Beach, visiting her sister in California, and trips to Vegas and Foxwoods. Most of all, she loved to dote on her cherished grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Brady of Lowell, three sons, Michael Brady and his wife Claire of Dracut, James J. Brady Jr. and his wife Robin of Bridgewater, NH, and David Brady of Lowell, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a sister, Elaine Foucher of CA, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph Espinola Jr. and Robert Espinola.
