Obituary for Frank J. Capone Sr.

Devoted Husband, Loving Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather

Frank J. Capone Sr., of Lowell, died unexpectedly December 25, 2018, at Lowell General Hospital, aged 82 years. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores G. (Andrews) Capone, who died October 1st of this year, and with whom he had celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Born July 14, 1936, in Winchester, MA, a son of the late Daniel and Florence (White) Capone. He graduated from Lowell Trade School with the Class of 1954.

Early on, he was a carpenter, and worked to build several homes in the greater Lowell area. Later, he began a career as a machinist with the former Amalgamated Plastic Company, and for over 40 years, he was as a machinist at Raytheon in Andover, retiring in 2011.

Frank married Dolores, the girl of his dreams, on January 25, 1958, and they settled in Lowell to raise their family. They enjoyed taking Sunday drives, and took many memorable trips to the mountains of Vermont to view the fall foliage.

A devoted husband and father, he was patient, kind, and generous. Each day, he lived to set the best example of how a man should treat family and strangers alike. He could fix anything, always had several projects going at once, and especially enjoyed making things for his kids and grandkids. He attended every event in their lives as their number one fan, be it graduations, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, and most recently, his granddaughter’s flag football championship. Collecting coins and making puzzles were also among his favorite pastimes. Wherever he went, babies and young children were naturally drawn to his fun loving nature and goofball sense of humor.

In recent years, he devoted his time and energy to caring for his beloved wife throughout her lengthy illness. His passing leaves a huge void in the many lives he touched, and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by a daughter, Diane Lynne Capone of Lowell, and two sons, Frank J. Capone Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Lowell, and William A. Capone and his wife Haley of Woburn. Seven grandchildren, Kyle E. Capone, Holly D. Capone, Yolanda L. Otero, Alyssa K. Otero, Jarrod M. Capone, Ava M. Capone, and Jonathan W. Capone, and a great-grandson, Sean S. Ricciardi. Six siblings, Daniel Capone, Lewis Capone, William Capone, Dorothy Core, Barbara Jewel, and Elizabeth "Bette" Lynch. Also, several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Steven P. Capone, and brother of the late Joseph F. Capone (his twin), Alfred "Robert "Capone, and Dalene Johnson.
