Ruth H. Flagg (Hutchinson)
Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother

Ruth H. (Hutchinson) Flagg, of Lowell, died peacefully October 29, 2018, in Billerica, her loving family by her side, aged 79 years.

Born in Lowell, April 27, 1939, she was the daughter of the late John A. Sr. and Ruth (Gustafson) Hutchinson. She received her early education in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1956. She furthered her education at Lowell Commercial College and started her career at Lowell Electric Light Company where she worked as a clerk in the accounts receivable department for five years.

In 1960, she married and moved to Pennsylvania and had moved around during her husband’s military service. In 1971, they settled in Naperville, Illinois, where she became associated with the Edward Hospital as a patient account representative, working there for over five years. In 1981, she returned to Lowell and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a secretary to the director of the Pharmacy. In 1993, when the hospital merged, she attended computer school and worked as a secretary at National Medical Care, until illness forced her retirement in 1995.

Mrs. Flagg held the title of Majority Member of the Lowell Assembly, Order of the Rainbow for Girls, held membership in the Warren G. Harding, Order of the Amaranth, and was a Past Royal Matron. She was a Past Grand Royal Matron of the Grand Court of Massachusetts Order of the Amaranth, and also held membership in the Eastern Star of New Hampshire.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Susan and Mark Stewart of Kettering, Ohio, and Lori and Richard Reynolds of West Greenwich, Rhode Island; one son, Kenneth M. Flagg and his wife Mary Lumbard of Tewksbury; two brothers, John Hutchinson and Paul Hutchinson; four grandsons, two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Brenda Wegener.
