Loving parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents

Roger L. Fournier, 77, and Pauline I. (Guerin) Fournier, 76, lifelong residents of Lowell, passed away at home on Sunday, August 5, 2018. They married on May 27, 1961, and have been inseparable ever since. Their love and commitment to each other, their family, and the community, was the foundation of their lives together, and will continue on in the many lives they have touched.

They are survived by four children who will miss them dearly: daughters; Denise J. Cognac of Pittsburgh, PA, and Dianne C. Forsyth and her husband Sanborn Ward of Litchfield, NH, sons; Daniel D. Fournier and his wife Cyndi Marchand Fournier of Pelham, NH, and David Fournier and his wife Janice Akins-Fournier of Northborough. Eight grandchildren; Kristen Cognac and her wife Klara Rossouw of Fort Collins, CO, Steven Cognac of Inverness, CA, Robert Forsyth and his wife Kristiana Demers-Forsyth of Charleston, WV, Kelly Forsyth of Rochester, MN, Bridgette Pimenta and her husband Jarrett of Goffstown, NH, whose son Theo is Pauline and Roger's great-grandchild, Simone Fournier and her fiancé Sean Khan of Bow, NH, Monique Fournier of Pelham, NH, and Henry Fournier of Northborough. They also leave many wonderful nieces and nephews, friends, colleagues and neighbors, who shared in their journey of life.

Roger was born in Lowell, a son of the late Arthur and Lucy (Leblanc) Fournier. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Fournier, whose wife Eleanor currently resides in Coronado, CA. He is also survived by a sister, Claire Bureau of Dracut, and was predeceased Claire’s husband Armand, and a sister, Lorraine Asselin and her husband Donald. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Roger held several jobs before finding his true calling as a Lowell firefighter, serving the community for 28 years before retiring. Until recently, he served as Secretary of the Lowell Retired Firefighters Association.

Pauline was born in Lowell, a daughter of the late Henry and Lucy (Adams) Guerin. She is survived by two brothers, Norman Guerin and his wife Pauline, and Robert Guerin, all of Dracut. Pauline was a homemaker for many years prior to working as a teacher’s aide at the Franco American School, and then at the St. Jeanne d’Arc School, where she was belovedly called “Miss Pauline”.

Roger and Pauline were longtime, active members of Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish. In their later years, they enjoyed spending time at their place in Seabrook Beach, NH, taking long drives, and visiting with family and friends.

FOURNIER – In Lowell, August 5, 2018. Roger L. and Pauline I. (Guerin) Fournier, of Lowell, devoted husband and wife for over 57 years. Friends will be received at the Morse-Bayliss Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, Lowell, on Sunday, August 12, from 3 until 7 PM. Their Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at St. Margaret Church, 374 Stevens St., Lowell, at 10 AM. Kindly Meet At Church. Interment is private.
