Obituary for Colette M. Riel

Colette M. Riel
Loving, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend

Colette Marie Riel, 51, of Dracut, formerly a longtime resident of Lowell, died peacefully on July 11, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born in Lowell, April 21, 1967, she was a daughter of the late Paul T. and Ann Marie (Doiron) Riel. She received her early education in the Lowell school system and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1985.

For many years, she worked at MetLife Insurance Company as a Claims Processor, and was most recently employed at Paraxel in Billerica as a Data Manager.

Colette loved to shop, and could always find an additional coupon for almost any item. She enjoyed camping in the great outdoors, and hosting holiday gatherings. Family meant the world to her, and she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with loved ones, especially her cherished grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Jessica Pickard of Lowell, and three sons, Matthew Carbonneau and his wife Angela Hernandez of Dracut, and Wayne Carbonneau and Joey Coutu, Jr., both of Lowell; two sisters, Michelle Riel, and Kelly Corcoran and her husband Dave, and four brothers, Dennis Riel, Paul T. Riel, Jr. and his wife Cheryl, Thomas Riel and his fiancée Kimsy, and Johnny Riel and his wife Amber, all of Lowell; and eight grandchildren, Katrina, Dennis, Aaliyah, Alanna, Dalilah, Aydriana, Ashton, and Kylah. Also by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many dear friends. She was the sister of the late Patricia Riel.

Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, the Highlands neighborhood of Lowell, on Monday from 4 until 7 PM. Colette's Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at St. Margaret Church, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell, at 10 AM. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH. Interment is private. Funeral Director, Frederick W. Healy.
