Obituary for Kamila A. Penn (Kopac)

Owned the former Penn's Clothing Store

Kamila A. (Kopac) Penn, a longtime resident of Lowell, died April 1, 2018, in Chelmsford, aged 91 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo H. Penn.

Born in Susice, Czechoslovakia, January 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frankesha and Helena Kopac.

In 1945, Kamila met Leo, an Army serviceman stationed in Susice during the U.S. military liberation operation. They married on February 23, 1946, and later that year, the young 'war bride' and her husband settled in Lowell to raise their family. Along with Leo's parents, they owned and operated the former Penn's clothing store in downtown Lowell for nearly 40 years. After the store was closed, Kamila worked for AAA in Lowell until her retirement.

She is survived by a son, Lanning M. Penn of Columbia, Maryland.

PENN - In Chelmsford, April 1, 2018. Kamila A. (Kopac) Penn, of Lowell, aged 91 years. Beloved wife of the late Leo H. Penn. Friends will be received at the Morse-Bayliss Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, Lowell, on Thursday from 9 until 10 AM, followed by her Funeral Service at 10 AM. Interment is private. Funeral Director, Frederick W. Healy.
