Obituary for Beverly J. Duxbury

Beverly J. Duxbury
Loving sister, aunt, and friend

Beverly Joyce Duxbury, 71, of Lowell, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 15, 2018, at Lowell General Hospital, after an extended illness.

She was born in Lowell on November 28, 1946, the daughter of the late Earl R. and Beverly H. (Hartman) Duxbury. Beverly received her early education in the Lowell school system, and then went on to work as a Customer Service Representative in the NYNEX Telephone Company repair department before retiring in 1994.

Beverly was a lifelong resident of Lowell and a communicant of the Pawtucket Congregational Church. She was also a longtime volunteer for the Lowell Chapter of the American Red Cross Disaster Service.

Prior to her illness, she enjoyed the company of her friends, family, and her two poodles, Harley and Hoover. She never missed an episode of Jeopardy, and enjoyed playing along with the contestants on TV. Beverly also loved to root for the Red Sox, play games, do crossword puzzles, and visit the beach at Plum Island.

She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Lynne and Ronald Shepherd of Lowell, a nephew and his wife, Jonathan and Megan Shepherd of Stoneham, a niece, Jennifer Shepherd of Malden, and her aunt, Doris Duxbury of Sanford Florida, as well as many cousins. She is also survived by her friend Nancy Butcher, Tara, and other close acquaintances.

Her family would like to thank the wonderful Nurses and Doctors at Lowell General Hospital for their loving care over the many days she was there.

In accordance with Beverly’s wishes, a private memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Pawtucket Congregational Church, 15 Mammoth Road, Lowell, MA 01854, or to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements in the care of the MORSE-BAYLISS Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Blvd., Lowell, MA. Funeral Director, Frederick W. Healy.
