Obituary for Dolores Capone (Andrews)

Dolores Capone (Andrews)
Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother

Dolores G. (Andrews) Capone, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died peacefully October 1, 2018, at Lowell General Hospital, aged 80 years. She was the beloved wife of Frank J. Capone Sr., with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage in January.

Born in Lowell, May 22, 1938, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Neves) Andrews. She received her early education in the Lowell school system and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1956.

On January 25, 1958, Dolores married Frank, the love of her life. They settled in Lowell to raise their family.

Outgoing and personable, Dolores enjoyed meeting new people, easily engaging in great conversations with everyone she met. She loved spending time in the mountains of Vermont, especially during fall foliage season. Many a weekend, Frank and Dolores drove the highways of Vermont to take in the beautiful scenery together. Back in the day, she also enjoyed a good game of Spades with Frank, her brother Leo and sister-in-law Ellen. She had a deep love of animals, especially cats and horses. At least one cat, often more, were blessed to take up residence in the house at any given time. She loved to watch the Triple Crown races, with Barbaro being her all-time favorite. A true movie buff, she was known to watch her favorites over and over.

Family was the center of her world, and Dolores was always there for her children and grandchildren, never missing important events in their lives. She loved hosting family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her precious grandchildren, 'the apples of her heart'. Dolores will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved son Steven.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Diane Lynne Capone of Lowell, and two sons, Frank J. Capone Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Lowell, and William A. Capone and his wife Haley of Woburn. Seven grandchildren, Kyle E. Capone, Holly D. Capone, Yolanda L. Otero, Alyssa K. Otero, Jarrod M. Capone, Ava M. Capone, and Jonathan W. Capone, and a great-grandson, Sean S. Ricciardi. Also, several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Steven P. Capone, sister of the late Leo Andrews, and sister-in-law of the late Ellen Andrews.

Capone Sr. Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, the Highlands neighborhood of Lowell, on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM.
