Reverend Dr. Russell A. "Pastor Russ" Kulisich Jr.
Beloved Minister and longtime Tyngsborough Resident
Reverend Dr. Russell A. Kulisich Jr., of Tyngsborough, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on April 18th, 2018, passing peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family. “Pastor Russ” as he was known to many, was the son of the late Rita “Mrs. Poco” and Russell “Chiefy” Kulisich Sr., esteemed educators who owned and operated The Jocelyn Day Camp and Day School in Tyngsborough, for over 50 years.
He was born in Salem, MA, on April 26th, 1947. The family soon moved to Tyngsborough, where he spent most of his life. After graduating from Lowell High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served our country during the Vietnam War.
Like his parents, Russell’s life-long passion was educating and helping others. He was licensed and ordained as a minister, and furthered his education at the International Miracle Institute in Pensacola, FL, earning both a Masters in Theology and a Doctor of Divinity. He met his future wife, Kathryne, and they married on June 3rd, 1989. Together, they founded J.I.T.A. (Jesus is the Answer) Ministries on Moore Street in Lowell, and later, in Tyngsborough. Pastor Russ was well-known both in the Merrimack Valley and nationally for being a compassionate soul, dedicating his life’s work to healing others. In 1998, Pastor Russ further pursued his passion of motorcycle ministry, establishing a clubhouse at the church. For over 28 years, he traveled to motorcycle rallies all over the country where he preached the gospel, reaching thousands. He also carried his evangelistic message internationally to Belize and the Philippines, where his crusades blazed the path for the founding of local churches.
He is survived by his wife, Reverend Dr. Kathryne W. Kulisich; seven children, Joshua McClure of Minot, ND, Angela Byczynski and her husband John of Portage, MI, Jayson B.
