Obituary for Mary M. Emanouil (Chalmers)
Loving mother and grandmother
Mary M. (Chalmers) Emanouil, of Lowell, died March 8, 2018, in Chelmsford, aged 81 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Emanouil, who died in April, 1973.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, March 26, 1936, a daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Shaughnessy) Chalmers. She Attended Lowell Catholic Schools including the Bradshaw Business School.
During her lifetime, Mary was a Girl Scout leader at the Abraham Lincoln School in Lowell. She was also a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality at Saint Margaret’s Church in Lowell.
Before starting her family, she worked at Fort Devens, MA, as a Processor for the servicemen on base. Later, Mary worked for Astra Zeneca of Wilmington, MA. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the University of Lowell in the Admissions Office.
Mary devoted herself to her family and loved spending time by the ocean, taking care of her pets, reading, and having a lively political discussion. She especially enjoyed her time at Lost Lake in Groton.
She is survived by five children, Christine Emanouil-Hayes and her husband Donald of Townsend, Sandra Albright and her husband Jeffrey of Barrington, NH, Joanne Wicks of Lowell, Stephen Emanouil of Groton, and Nicholas J. Emanouil of Lowell. Three beloved grandchildren, Sarah M. Wicks of Alexandria, VA, and Meghan and Nicholas Emanouil of Haverhill; a sister, Barbara Dube of Chelmsford, a brother, Richard J. Chalmers of Lowell, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William Chalmers.
Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at Palm Center of Chelmsford for their compassionate care during her stay. Also, a special thank you to everyone at Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care of North Andover, for treating our mother with heartfelt compassion and dignity.

Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, Lowell, on Wednesday from 10 to 11:45 AM, followed by her Funeral Service at Noon.
