Obituary for Mary Leno (Bureau)

Mary Leno (Bureau)
Loving Sister, Aunt, Cousin

Mary E. (Bureau) Leno, of Lowell, died January 28, 2018, at Lowell General Hospital, after a lengthy illness, aged 81 years.

Born in Lowell, April 15, 1936, a daughter of the late Roland G. and Mary E. (Tighe) Bureau. She received her early education at St. Patrick Grammar School and graduated from Lowell High School. She furthered her education at Lowell Technical Institute, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business.

Mary was employed as an Engineer at Honeywell for 28 years. She then worked at MACOM in Lowell, until her retirement in 1998.

Mary loved all animals, especially her dogs Max and Casey, and enjoyed a good game of cards with the girls at Francis Gate. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and a pro tennis aficionado, who, at any given moment, could easily quote the stats on all the top players.

In her youth, Mary played softball and basketball with the St. Patrick CYO. While at Honeywell, she played in the women’s golf league.

She is survived by a brother, Robert B. Bureau and his wife Rita of Hudson, MA; two sisters, Ann B. Simmons of Lowell, and Theresa M. Strules of Bonita Springs, Florida; several cousins, including Carole A. McInerney of Tyngsboro, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
