Frances Cooper (Thompson)
Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother
Frances (Thompson) Cooper, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died peacefully December 5, 2017, at Blaire House of Tewksbury, aged 92 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Wallace H. R. Cooper Sr., with whom she had shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell, December 21, 1924, a daughter of the late Leonard and Helen (Niepold) Thompson. She attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1943.
Mrs. Cooper was employed as a supervisor by the McGowan-Educator Biscuit Company for many years.
Fran attended Matthews Memorial Church, where she also taught Sunday School for 12 years. She loved to knit, cross-stitch, and crochet, making many wonderful and intricately designed items for family and friends. She also enjoyed playing bingo.
August vacations with family and friends at Captain's Row in Dennisport were among her favorite memories. Fran also threw an epic Fourth of July party each year, complete with a dazzling fireworks display. She hosted many Christmas Eve celebrations, which always included her famous homemade brownies. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Wallace H. R. Cooper Jr. and his wife Susan of Pelham, NH, and Albert H. Cooper and his wife Doretta of Dracut; a daughter, Donna L. Koontz of Lowell; four grandchildren, Kristen Libby, Kacey Cooper, Nicholas Beauchamp, and Dustin Cooper; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Oliver Beauchamp, and Ryan and Rachel Libby, several nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Cooper of Lowell. She was the sister of the late Mildred Hunnewell, Marjorie Thibeault, Barbara Stanalonis, Mary Lord, Patricia Hovey, Charlotte Jangraw, John Thompson, and Robert Thompson, and sister-in-law of the late Arlene Wuester, Robert Cooper, and William Cooper.
