Obituary for Harvey L. Holmes

Loving Husband, Devoted Father and Grandfather

Harvey L. Holmes, of Lowell, died October 8, 2017, at his home, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family, aged 91 years. He was the beloved husband of Annie L. (Hagler) Holmes, with whom he would have celebrated their 46 wedding anniversary this November 10th.

He was born in Arkansas, January 30, 1926, and received his education there.

In his younger years, he built swimming pools, a job he thoroughly enjoyed knowing how much joy it would bring to families. He was a great story teller and was known to scratch a lottery ticket now and then.

Being around his large family and grandchildren was what he loved the most.

Besides his wife Annie, he is survived by his children, Joyce Holmes-Holford of Santa Barbara, CA, Harvey Lee Holmes, Evelyn Holmes, Gloria Holmes, and Barbara Holmes, all of Bakersfield, CA, Gwendolyn Holmes, Brenda Holmes, and Belinda Holmes, all of Houston, TX, Anthony Holmes of San Bernadino, CA, Donna Holmes of Los Angeles, CA, Christopher Holmes, James Borom, Barry Hagler, Barbara Tharpe, Charles Hagler, Julia Hagler, and Patricia Hagler, all of Lowell. Also by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
